Headwinds and the Pink Scrap Bin

"Headwinds and the Pink Scrap Bin" sounds like a children's book title. ๐Ÿ˜œ

I finished up the pink Village Quilt houses las week for RSC. Now I'm in a quandary. I need eleven more house blocks per the pattern. The original plan was to make them in neutrals like light and medium gray, but I'm afraid they will blend too much with the gray roofs. Overthinking in progress as usual.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, we've been enjoying spring and Tennessee backroads on the bikes.

Early April Dogwoods

That day, I was convinced my e-bike was headed to the mechanic with a MAJOR problem - it felt like I was pedaling in wet cement. Handsome checked it out later and diagnosed it as "headwinds". ๐Ÿ˜‚ Bike is fine. My ego, not so much. ๐Ÿ˜

Hubs is part mountain goat and can climb about anything. I ride an e-bike so I can keep up with the goat. ๐Ÿ˜‚ And you never know what you'll find around the next bend...

Today is a sew day with shopgirls from The Dancing Bobbin so I better get moving. I'm taking strings for a day of mindless sewing and good conversation.

Piece...

  1. OOH! I love those houses! The 'Village' is on my bucket list, I printed the pattern last week. I used to do biking in Norway, but here I don't dare! It's not biking friendly and the traffic is horrible.

    1. Thanks, Astrid. I was inspired by a friend's Village quilt. I'll look forward to seeing your houses show up on your blog. I'm thankful for some mostly quiet country roads to ride on. I don't enjoy traffic either....or dogs.

  2. Your houses are very cute. Do you have some darker greys? You could put one or two in each pink row and they "should" show up. I think the key here is to audition each color before making the houses. Kudos for you to even get outside and e-biking. I sure wouldn't! Keep it up. (Notice I am a better cheerleader on activity than a doer.)

    1. The houses are in all the colors ;) with the roofs in medium to dark grays and low volume skies. I think I can place some strategically among the brights to make it work. I may wait to do them when it gets a turn on the design wall so I can audition as you suggested. And we all need cheerleaders! Thanks :)

  3. Or you could just back & make one more in each of eleven colors & skip the neutral walls. I agree they may not show up as well with the gray roofs. You could add brown, gold, peach, etc. Some other less used colors.

    1. For sure! There's no shortage of fabric scraps over here. I'm going to keep overthinking for a bit while I finish up a couple deadlines (aka procrastinating) :)
